At Peachtree Wellness Solutions, our Atlanta Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a step-down program from our residential treatment program.
In our Atlanta PHP, clients partake in daily, structured treatment during the day and either return home or to an offsite structured mental health housing during the evening.
Peachtree Wellness offers comprehensive mental health programs in Atlanta. Verify your insurance now or call us at 770-202-1274.
What is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for Mental Health?
Our Atlanta Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) features full days of mental health treatment without a residential requirement. Thus, unlike residential treatment, you aren’t required to live within a facility throughout your program.
When you receive care at our PHP in Atlanta, you will follow a customized plan. The customized plan will include a variety of therapeutic activities and services. In addition, at the end of each day, you can return to your home or to a supported residence.
Throughout PHP, you’ll attend the program for about 7 hours per day. While we have a 7-day per week schedule for PHP, we can accommodate your schedule to fit your needs. During the day, you’ll attend sessions with group therapy, psychoeducational instruction, life skills training, and holistic activities.
Some people step down to our PHP after completing residential care. However, others may enter treatment directly at the PHP level. We make all admissions decisions on a case-by-case basis after a thorough review of each person’s history and needs.
You are not alone. You deserve to get help.
Peachtree Wellness is an industry leader in mental health treatment. Our team of top medical experts specialize in dual diagnosis treatment and are committed to ensuring that each patient is treated as an individual. Call us today, we’re available 24/7.
Who Is a PHP Appropriate For?
Our partial hospitalization program is appropriate for anyone who is leaving a residential treatment facility and needs to continue their treatment. It can also help clients who need a high level of support, yet are unable to reside within a facility for treatment.
Overall, since PHP doesn’t offer 24/7 support, this level of care is best for those who have completed some type of stabilization service, like inpatient hospitalization or residential treatment. This is why PHP is usually considered a step-down service from inpatient treatment.
So, if your symptoms are relatively stable and you have a safe place to call home throughout treatment, a PHP could be the next step in your wellness journey.
How Does a PHP in Atlanta Work?
At the outset of your time in our partial hospitalization program, you will complete an intake assessment. Therefore, the information gathered can help us develop your personalized treatment plan.
During each treatment day, you’ll follow a schedule that includes a variety of therapies, activities, and other services. Furthermore, if you have been experiencing symptoms that can be eased with prescription medication, we can also include this in your personalized plan.
The daily schedule at our PHP in Atlanta also includes time for meals and breaks. Finally, when the treatment day ends, you may go home or to an alternative supported residence.
A Typical Day at Our Partial Hospitalization Program
Our PHP in Atlanta begins by setting the day with intention. Clients are encouraged to meditate and prepare for the day. Oftentimes, many of us get caught up in our day to day lives and struggle to focus on our goals for treatment. Daily meditation and goal setting sets you up for success at the onset of the day.
After that, you’ll move on to two sessions, both lasting about an hour each with a short break between. These sessions change each day and offer a variety of topics. This gives you a wealth of knowledge and coping skills to manage your mental health.
After a lunch break, you’ll have two more sessions, which include psychoeducational instruction, life skills, and experiential therapy. Below, you’ll find a more detailed daily schedule with topics and specific times.

PHP vs. IOP
Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) and our intensive outpatient program (IOP) are similar in that they both are considered outpatient levels of care, however, there are key differences in intensity, time commitment, and structure:
Intensity and Level of Care:
Partial Hospitalization Programming (PHP): PHP is more intensive than IOP. It is designed for individuals who need significant clinical intervention but do not require 24-hour supervision. PHP often serves as a step down from inpatient care or as a step up from outpatient therapy when symptoms are more severe but manageable without round-the-clock supervision.
Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP): IOP is less intensive than PHP. It is suitable for individuals who need more support than traditional outpatient therapy but do not require the high level of care provided by PHP. IOP can be a step down from PHP or a step up from regular outpatient visits.
Time Commitment:
PHP: Typically requires a commitment of several hours per day, five to seven days a week. The focus is on providing a structured therapeutic environment while allowing the individual to return home each night.
IOP: Usually involves attending therapy sessions for a few hours per day, two to five days a week. This allows more flexibility for individuals to maintain work or family commitments.
Types of Services:
Both PHP and IOP offer a range of services, including individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatry, and psychoeducational groups. However, the frequency and duration of these services may be greater in PHP due to its more intensive nature.
If you’re not sure whether PHP or IOP is right for you, contact us at your convenience or verify your insurance.
A member of our team will be happy to explain these options in greater depth. Also, they will help you determine which one aligns most closely with your goals and expectations.
