Am I A Good Fit For Residential Mental Health Treatment?

Determining the need for residential or long-term mental health treatment can be a challenging, yet, life-altering decision. Residential mental health treatment is recommended for those struggling with varying forms of mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other disorders. Residential rehab may be necessary if the individual also suffers from a dual diagnosis disorder, or if they’re also abusing other mind-altering substances such as alcohol, or drug addiction.

If you’re unable to manage daily life due to your mental health, or if outpatient treatment may have not worked in the past, residential rehab may be the next step.

You may be a good fit for residential mental health treatment if you’ve experienced any of the following:

  • Have a severe mental health disorder
  • Your mental health disorder is interfering with your daily life.
  • If you’ve experienced frequent hospitalizations, 1013 episodes, or outpatient treatment without significant improvement
  • If your current living situation is unstable or unsafe
  • If you are in a crisis, such as experiencing suicidal thoughts, self-harm or severe substance abuse.

If you’re still unsure whether residential mental health treatment is right for you, our team can assess your needs and recommend a level of care.

How Long Does Residential Mental Health Treatment in Atlanta Last?

Length of stay at our residential mental health treatment center in Georgia varies from person to person. The amount of time you spend with us will be determined by your needs, goals, and progress.

Some people remain in residential treatment for a relatively small amount of time, while others may have a much longer stay. By the time you’re ready to be discharged, we want to be sure that you’ve achieved your residential treatment goals and you’re prepared to return home or step down to a lower level of care. At Peachtree, we offer three lower levels of care that clients can step into dependent on a case-by-case basis. These include:

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – PHP is a form of outpatient treatment where clients can live at home and attend treatment during the day.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) – Our Intensive Outpatient Program in Atlanta is a minimum of nine hours of treatment per week. During this time, individuals can continue working or going to school and living at home.

Outpatient Program – Our outpatient program is our lowest level of care we offer, and admission to outpatient is determined on a case-by-case basis. Most often, admission into our outpatient program is most appropriate when an individual is stepping down from a higher level of care.
